Signature: "Ulla Schmidt", 4¼x2½. German politician Ulla
Schmidt (b. 1949), a member of the Social Democratic Party, was Federal
Minister for Health in the SDP government of Chancellor Helmut Schmidt
(2001-2005), and retained that Cabinet post in the coalition government headed
by Chancellor Angela Merkel (2005-2009). Schmidt, who had first sought
election to the Bundestag as a member of the Maoist Communist League of Germany
(1976), is now a part of a conservative grouping within the SDP known as the
Seeheimer Circle. Pencil note (unknown hand) at top left corner. Fine
