UNA O'CONNOR. Photograph inscribed and signed: "The best of/luck to Jean/from/Una O'Connor". B/w, 8x10. Shown with Jacqueline White in movie still from Banjo (1947). Irish actress Una O'Connor (1880-1959) began her stage career in Dublin, moving on to London and New York. In films from 1930, she was much in demand for character roles, given that she had, in the words of Hal Erickson of All Movie Guide, "the body of a scarecrow, the contemptuous stare of a house detective, and the voice of an air raid siren." Her best remembered film performances include The Invisible Man (1933), The Canterville Ghost (1944) and Witness for the Prosecution (1957). Light corner creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
