UNION PACIFIC: BARBARA STANWYCK and ROBERT PRESTON
Black and white magazine photograph of Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Preston from their 1939 film Union Pacific.
Magazine Photograph signed: "Barbara Stanwyck" and "Robert/Preston". B/w, 7x9, neatly affixed to cardstock of same size. Movie still from the 1939 hit film. Orphaned at four and a Ziegfeld chorus girl at 15, BARBARA STANWYCK (1907-1990) was a Broadway star by the late 1920s. Moving to Hollywood after 1930, she was often cast as a tough-minded working girl who rarely met a happy ending. Stanwyck received Oscar nominations for Stella Dallas (1937), Ball of Fire (1941), Double Indemnity (1944) and Sorry, Wrong Number (1948). She earned renewed popularity on television, especially as the star of the Western series The Big Valley (1965-1969). ROBERT PRESTON (1918-1987) had already made nearly 40 films from 1938, playing second leads in most, when he became a big star of Broadway musicals. He won Tony Awards for The Music Man (1958), a role he repeated in the hit film four years later, and for I Do! I Do! (1966). He also received an Oscar nomination for Victor/Victoria (1982). Ink note on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
