Autograph note signed: "For Leon Woritz/My very best wishes/Uta Hagen", in black ink, 5x3. Uta Hagen (1919-2004, born in Göttingen, Germany) was a Tony Award-winning American actress. Hagen is primarily known as a stage actress. She had 20 Broadway appearances between 1938 and 1987 - most of them before 1955 - and has garnered two Tony Awards for Best Actress for her roles in The Country Girl (1950-1951) and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1963-1964). She also premiered on TV in 1945, but the Hollywood blacklist delayed her film debut until 1972's The Others. Her primary impact on Hollywood was as an acting teacher. Hagen taught acting to, among others, Matthew Broderick, Jason Robards, Sigourney Weaver, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Jack Lemmon. Corners slightly worn. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
