The author writes a note to a friend, signing "With admiration, affection, and fun in literature"
Autograph note signed: "Vera", in blue ink, 9¾x6¾ open flat, 5x6x¾. In full: "Anne, love and the sincerest wish that we can spend the next one together - With admiration, affection and fun in literature". Vera Caspary (1899-1987) wrote 24 novels, the best known of which were Laura (1943) and Bedelia (1945). She adapted the film version of Laura, one of her many successful screen adaptations, and also wrote 5 plays and magazine short stories. Although she claimed not to be a "mystery writer", most of her novels merged a woman's quest for identity and love with a murder plot. Although never a committed communist, Caspary joined the party under an alias, and did some fund-raising for related groups, an association which hindered her career. Fine condition.
