VIC DAMONE CO-SIGNED HELEN O'CONNELL The two singers sign a sentimental thought on a 4½x5 piece of pink paper Autograph Sentiment signed: "Always/Vic Damone" and "Best Wishes/Helen O'Connell", on a 4½x5 piece of pink paper. Vic Damone (1928-2018) recorded this song for Decca Record. A singer of popular standards and show tunes, Damone made hit records out of On the Street Where You Live (1956) and Gigi (1958). He starred in musicals of the early 1950s, including Hit the Deck and Kismet (1955). His albums remain popular with an older audience, as are his casino and club appearances. Helen O'Connell (1920-1993) was lead female vocalist with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra (1939-1943), scoring several hit records in duets with Bob Eberly. "Amapola" was one of these. Leaving show business for 8 years during her first marriage, she returned to TV in the 1950s, featured on the Today show and hosting her own interview program, Here's Hollywood. She co-hosted many beauty pageants, and was nominated for an Emmy for her coverage of the Miss Universe contest (1976). Playing herself, she sang "Green Eyes" in the film The Fabulous Dorseys (1947). Her recording of "Brazil" with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (1942) is in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Ink note (unknown hand) at the bottom left of the page. Fine condition.
