Tickenham [England]. In full: "Thank you for your letter of the 17th
November. I have pleasure in enclosing herewith, the signed photograph for which
you ask. I am also enclosing my suggestions for your 'Team-up the Stars'
Contest. Trusting your Ball will be a great success, and wishing you the best of
luck. I am, Sincerely yours". British actor/comedian Vic Oliver
(1898-1964), born Viktor Oliver Von Samek in Vienna, Austria, was an
accomplished violinist and one of the first comedians to incorporate his
musical talents into a comedy act. In addition to appearing on stage, Oliver
was featured in several films, including Rhythm in the Air (1936),
Meet Mr. Penny and I'll Be Your Sweetheart (1945), and he was a
regular on the TV series, Hotel Imperial (1958). Oliver was
married to actress Sarah Churchill, the daughter of Sir Winston
Churchill, from 1936 until their divorce in 1945. Slightly creased. Staple
holes at letterhead. Otherwise, fine condition.
