"Al" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 6¼x8½. On his personal U.S. Senate letterhead. Washington, D.C., no date. To "Dear Pat" [Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan]. In full: "Thanks again for your generous comments when you put my speech into the Record. I found your remarks on the failure and collapse of the Communist idea quite enlightening. Thanks again. See you soon. Sincerely." Gore, the son of former U.S. Senator Albert Gore, Sr., served as U.S. Congressman from Tennessee from 1977-1985, U.S. Senator (1985-1993) and Clinton's Vice President (1993-2001). In the 2000 presidential election, although he won the popular vote, Gore lost to Texas Governor George W. Bush. DIRECTLY FROM THE SALE OF THE ESTATE OF DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN. Moynihan (1927-2003) represented New York in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat for four terms (1977-2001).
