In full: "As the U.S. House of Representatives moves into full legislative session, I have received my new committee assignments. I will be serving the people of the Fourth District of Indiana on the International Relations and the Small Business Committees. As I begin my responsibilities, I want to take this opportunity to again say thank you for your contribution which helped make my re-election possible. Danforth "Dan" Quayle (b. 1947) represented Indiana in the US House of Representatives (1977-1981) and Senate (1981-1989). He was elected Vice President on the Republican ticket with George Bush in 1989, but defeated for re-election. When first inaugurated, Quayle was the third youngest Vice President (after John Breckinridge and Richard Nixon).
