Danforth "Dan" Quayle (b. 1947) represented Indiana in the US House of Representatives (1977-1981) and Senate (1981-1989). He was elected Vice President on the Republican ticket with George Bush in 1989, but defeated for re-election. When first inaugurated, Quayle was the third youngest Vice President (after John Breckinridge and Richard Nixon).
