JOSEPH BIDEN
Shown as a young Senator
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Best/Wishes/Joe/BidenUSS 1975". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 5x7 - one surface. Joseph Biden, a Democrat from Delaware, was first elected to the US Senate in 1970, by a very narrow margin. He was re-elected to that office five more times, always by comfortable margins, and is a candidate for re-election in 2008. Biden has chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee (1987-1995) and Foreign Relations Committee (2001-2003, 2007- ). He had no success in two quests for the Democratic Presidential nomination (1988, 2008), but on November 4, 2008, he was elected Vice President as the running mate of Barack Obama. As Vice President, he has been charged with implementing economic recovery legislations and chairing the Middle Class Task Force. When the 2010 Congressional elections reduced Senate Democrats to a slim majority, Biden's power as Vice President to cast tie-breaking votes in that body has became very important. Corners creased. Paper residue (previous mounting) on verso. Surface wrinkles (previous mounting) not visible head-on. Otherwise, fine condition.
