Signature: "Thomas A. Hendricks", 4x2¼ card. After serving two
terms in Congress, Thomas A. Hendricks was Commissioner of the General
Land Office from 1855-1859. Hendricks ran unsuccessfully for Vice President with
Tilden on the Democratic ticket in 1876, losing in the Electoral College by one
(contested) vote. He was elected Cleveland's Vice President in 1884,
butdied of a stroke in his Indianapolis home less than nine months
later on November 25, 1885.Stamp remnant on verso (no show through). Lightly
soiled edges. Fine condition.
