VICTOR ARNOLD
Remembering good friend Daniel Blum, the actor writes, "We all miss him," to John Willis, chief editor of Theatre World
Autograph letter signed: "Victor Arnold," in blue ink. No place, no date. To John Willis, chief editor of Theatre World, New York City. In full: "As an old friend of Danny Blum I'm glad to see Theatre World carrying on it its best tradition. Danny was one of the first people I met in the theatre and I shall always remember his great warmth, humor and encouragement. Needless to say, his was a great loss, we all miss him. Continued success. Sincerely." The actor's original handwritten Theatre World resume included on verso. Victor Arnold (1936-2012) was an American actor who has over 45 screen and stage appearances, including The Defenders (1964), Shaft (1971), Kojak (1975), Law and Order (1991-2005) and Damages (2007). His on-stage performances include the Broadway hit Sleuth (1970-1973), which ran for three years. A year before he died, Arnold filmed his final movie Loveless in 2011. Theatre World, founded in 1945 by Daniel Blum, is America's oldest annual record of Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theatre, referenced by industry professionals, historians, students and theatre fans worldwide. Until 1998, when a separate nonprofit corporation was established, Theatre World's editorial staff bestowed the prestigious Theatre World Awards for outstanding Broadway and Off-Broadway debuts. Screen World (from 1950) and Dance World (from 1966), administered from the same office, also furnished comprehensive information on those entertainment genres. Creased and toned. Edges and corners worn. Otherwise fine condition.
