appeared in silent films in 1915. He excelled in character roles in the 1930s
and 1940s, typically portraying bumbling, helpless little men, such as the
Vice President in Gershwin's 1932 Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Of Thee I
Sing. Photo inscribed to the owner of Peppino's restaurant in Beverly Hills,
