The British singer signs her name on this clipping from a

Autograph sentiment signed: "Yours Sincerely/Victoria Monks/John
Bulls Girl/5/7/10" in black ink. 3½x2¼. Victoria Monks (1884-1927)
was a British music hall singer of the early 20th century. In 1899 she made her
first stage appearance as "Little Victoria". She later had her first
performance in London at the Oxford Music Hall on March 9, 1903. She went on
to appear in all the leading Music Halls both in London and the provinces. Monks
performed and recorded a number of popular songs of her day, such as "Ain't
Yer Gwine to Say 'How Do'?", "Buy Me a Home in London" and "Won't You Come Home
Bill Bailey?". She sometimes used the pseudonym Violet Dunn for her
recordings. In 1915 she was prevented from working following an accident which
involved a stage door at one of the Moss Empires theatres and became bankrupt
shortly afterwards. Monks' great granddaughter Chloe Hooper is both an
international vocalist and Tribute Act today. Toned. Irregular edges. Lightly
stained. Small notch in bottom left corner. Adhesive residue on verso.
Otherwise, fine condition.
