Rhodes scholar, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and actor KRIS
KRISTOFFERSON (1936-2024) first gained fame as a songwriter, penning such hits as
"Me and Bobby McGee", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", "Help Me Make It Through the
Night" and "For the Good Times". He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best
Original Song Score in 1984 for Songwriter, in which he co-starred with Willie Nelson.
Kristofferson began his solo career in 1970 with the release of his debut album, Kristofferson.
In 1971, he won his first Grammy Award (for Best Country Song) for "Help Me Make It
Through the Night". He would win two additional Grammy Awards for Best Country Vocal
Performance by a Duo or Group when he teamed up with his wife (1973-1980), singer
Rita Coolidge, for "From the Bottle to the Bottom" (1973) and "Lover Please" (1974). He
formed the Highwaymen (with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson), releasing
three albums (1985, 1990, 1995). After making his film debut in The Last Movie in 1971, he
was also frequently seen on the big screen, and in a long list of made-for-TV movies.
Kristofferson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. A frequent TV
guest star, beginning with Dragnet in 1967, JAN MICHAEL VINCENT (1944-2019)
gained Golden Globe nominations as Best Supporting Actor in Going Home (1971) and
the TV miniseries The Winds of War (1983). After several memorable roles, including
Charles Bronson's vengeful apprentice in The Mechanic (1972), he was cast as Stringfellow
Hawke in the hit TV series Airwolf (1984-1987). Two near-fatal auto accidents in the 1990s
and substance abuse problems slowed his career, confining him mostly to small-budget projects,
but he earned critical acclaim in the indie film Buffalo '66 (1998). Vigilante Force (1976) cast
Kristofferson as a Vietnam Vet who, at the request of a small-town California mayor (Vincent),
brings vigilantes to contain rowdy oil-field workers. But the "cure" soon proves worse than the
disease. Multiple folds throughout. Worn along edges, corners, and folds. Tack holes in
corners. Surface creasing. Stored folded. Light stains on image. Otherwise, fine condition.
