VILLAGE PEOPLE. Photograph signed: "Alex Briley", "Jeff Olson", "Ray/Simpson", "Always/David Hodo/oo" and "Eric Anzalone". Color, 8x10 overall, image 7¼x8¼ (one surface). Publicity photograph by Carol Rosegg. Captioned at lower margin. Photograph taken after 1995, when ERIC ANZALONE replaced Glenn Hughes as the biker. The first member of the Village People, assembled in 1977 by producer Jacques Morali, was FELIPE ROSE (who did not sign), who was discovered performing in his Indian costume in New York's Greenwich Village and remains as the group's American Indian. Original members in this photograph also include ALEX BRILEY as the Soldier and DAVID HODO as the Construction Worker. RAY SIMPSON joined the group as the Cop in 1979, and JEFF OLSON became the Village People's Cowboy in 1980. The Village People had their first U.S. hit with "Macho Man" in 1978. Their other hits, which defined the disco era, include "Y.M.C.A.", "In the Navy", "Go West" and "Stop the Music", which was also the title of their 1980 film. The group continues to perform at concerts throughout the world. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Fine condition.
