THE VILLAGE PEOPLE
Color photo signed by all six: Alex Briley, Jeff Olson, Felipe Rose, Ray Simpson, David Hodo and Eric Anzalone
Photograph signed: ""Alex Briley", "Jeff/Olson", "Felipe Rose", "Ray Simpson", "David Hodo" and "Eric Anzalone". Color 8x10.The Village People burst on the disco scene in 1977 with catchy, danceable music and a special appeal to gay audiences through their deliberate parodies of macho figures. Original members of the group include Alex BRILEY (dressed as a soldier), David HODO (a construction worker) and Felipe ROSE (a native American). Ray SIMPSON took over the role of the cop in 1979, followed by Jeff OLSON as a cowboy in 1980 and, finally, Eric ANZALONE as the biker in 1995. Although the group's biggest hits came in the late 1970s ("Macho Man," "In the Navy" and "Y.M.C.A."), they remain active. An estimated 40,000 people danced to one live performance of "Y.M.C.A." in 2008, entering the Guinness Book of Records. Their film Can't Stop the Music (1980), not a big hit on its initial release, has become a cult favorite. Fine condition.
