VINCE COLEMAN Signed commemorative cover, shown getting a hit in Game 3 of the 1987 World Series Commemorative Envelope signed: "Vince Coleman", 6½x3½. Color cachet shows Coleman getting a hit in Game 3 of the 1987 World Series, postmarked Baseball Station, St Louis, Missouri, October 20, 1987 (the date and city of the game), 22-cent US stamp affixed. In 1985, the St. Louis Cardinals made way for the young speedster, Vince Coleman, to rise through their system. He held the job with ease and poise, notching 110 stolen bases, shattering the rookie record held by Juan Samuel just a year before. A unanimous choice for the 1985 National League Rookie of the Year Award, Coleman finished the season with 107 runs scored and 170 hits. Coleman went on to become the first player in history to steal 100 bases in each of his first three major league seasons. He was voted All-Star in 1988 and 1989. Despite Coleman's 6 stolen bases, the Cardinals lost the 1987 World Series to the Minnesota Twins in 7 games. Lightly toned at top edge and darker on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
