VINCE LOMBARDI He pens a diagram for a football play in pencil on this 8x3 yellow lined page Original Art unsigned, 8x3 lined, yellow page. Though small for his position, Vince Lombardi (1913-1970) was part of a front line at Fordham University known as "the seven blocks of granite", as the team ran  of 25 straight victories. After assistant coaching positions at Navy and elsewhere, Lombardi became offensive coordinator of the New York Giants. With another future head coaching great, Tom Landry, as defensive coordinator Lombardi helped turned the Giants into a championship team (1956). In 1959, he became head coach and general manager (1959-1968) of the Green Bay Packers (1959-1968), who had won only one game the previous year. In his rookie season, Lombardi earned Coach of the Year honors, and the following year he led the Packers to their first Western Conference title since 1944. He followed up with four additional NFL titles at Green Bay and won the first two Super Bowls (1967-1968). After one year of retirement he returned to coach the Washington Redskins. At his death, Lombardi was the NFL's all-time winningest coach with percentage of .740 (105-35-6). The Super Bowl trophy is named in honor of Lombardi, who was elected to the Football Hall of Fame in 1971. Numbered authenticating label in lower right corner. Irregularly trimmed. Fine condition.
