Lobby Card inscribed and signed: "For Jim/Always/my Best/Vincent
Price". Color, 14x11. Promoting the 1959 film, The Tingler.
©1959, Columbia Pictures Corp. Captioned at lower margin. This 1959 horror film
starred Vincent Price as pathologist Dr. William Chapin, who finds a large,
insect like creature growing on the spinal cords of several victims who are
killed by the creature when they emit a blood-curdling primal scream. Also
starring Judith Evelyn as Mrs. Higgins, The Tingler was famous for its
gimmicks -- one of the creatures would "escape" into the movie theater,
where tiny Army surplus devices that delivered mild electric shocks to the spine
were rigged to certain seats to induce terrified screams (if that failed, a
planted audience member would scream and faint). A dramatic actor of stage and
screen, Vincent Price's portrayals of maniacal schemers established him as the
master of horror films. Some of the other memorable films for which Price
(1911-1993) is remembered include House of Wax, The Fly, The
House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum and The Masque of the Red
Death. Lightly creased. Soiled at margins, worn at upper corners. Overall,
fine condition.
