Vinny Pazienza (b. 1962), who bears the nickname of "Pazmanian Devil",
changed his last name to Paz in the 1990s. He won the IBF's lightweight
championship in 1987, and then began a series of challenges in heavier
weight categories. He made the largest leap ever in championship weights (24
pounds) when he gained the WBA's junior middleweight title in 1991, regaining
his title fighting in a neck brace against doctors' advice! He waged tough
fights against top contenders in the super middleweight class in the 1990s.
Pazienza kept his promise to retire after 50 victories. He won a
unanimous 10-round decision over Tucker Pudwill in 2004, and then retired with a
record of 50-10 (30 wins by knockout). Ink note on verso (no show through). Fine
