VIRGILIA PETERSON
The famed author and book critic, writes letter about lending one of her books, signs name in blue ink

"Polish Profile" is out of print, but I possess two rather greasy, ill-used second-hand copies - and I could lend you one of them if you would be kind enough to send it back. -I do appreciate your defense of me! All the best -". Virgilia Peterson (1904-1966) was an author, critic, and former moderator of the popular program Author Meets The Critics (1952-1954); she furthermore reviewed books for the New York Times and the New York Herald Tribune. After attending Vassar College, Peterson moved to Europe to study, where she met and married Prince Paul Sapieha of Poland in 1933, and where she lived for six years on the prince's estate and later wrote about her life as a Polish princess after the couple and their family moved to the U.S. in 1940. Her books include Polish Profile (1940) and A Matter of Life and Death (1961). Toned. Paper clip stain in top margin. Corners rounded. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
