Sale Price $552.50
Vintage photo with a very warm inscription, given in person to collector Saul Goodman
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Saul/I wish for you/every bit of success/and happiness in the/world now and always/Virginia Field". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: February 1938. Virginia Field (1917-1992) performed on English and continental stages before turning to films. She took the screen name of Virginia in honor of General Robert E. Lee, her mother's cousin. She was featured in such movies as The Lady is Willing (1934), Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936), Waterloo Bridge (1940) and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1949). She appeared in several of the Mr. Moto films of the 1930s, and starred in the Broadway comedies The Doughgirls (1942) and Light Up the Sky (1948). She was married to actors Paul Douglas and Willard Parker, the latter lasting from 1951 until her death. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Fine condition.
