The comedy performer whose real name is John Foster Hall signed this slip of paper in ink
Signature: “Yours unfeignedly- / Vivian Foster / Vicar of Mirth / 'Yes, I think so!'”. 3x1½ slip of paper. John Foster Hall (circa 1867-1945) was a British comedian who is best known as the Reverend Vivian Foster, the Vicar of Mirth, a character that he created for his stand-up comedy routine. One of his best long-running gags is saying “Yes, I think so!” at the most inappropriate times. Most active in the 1910s and 1920s, he also appeared in one screen role - on This Week of Grace in 1933 - as the Vicar. Irregular cut. Toned. Mounting remnants on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
