VIVIAN VANCE - CONTRACT SIGNED 06/17/1965 CO-SIGNED BY: JACK FARREN - HFSID 296638
Price: $900.00
VIVIAN VANCE
The actress commits to appear on TV's Call My Bluff for
$1,000, a contract also signed by producer Jack Farren.
Contract signed: "Vivian Vance", 2 pages (front and verso),
8½x11. New York, N. Y., 1965 June 17. Also signed "Jack Farren" as
Producer. Contract with Em-Bee Productions for Vance's appearance on the TV
program Call My Bluff, to be taped June 23-24 and aired during the week
July 12-16. Vance is to be paid $1,000 for this appearance, which includes two
rehearsal dates. Stage and screen actress VIVIAN VANCE (1909-1979)
is best known for her role as Ethel Mertz on the I Love Lucy TV
series (1951-1961, during the term of this contract). At the time
she signed this contract, Vance was married (1941-1959) to actor Philip
Ober, whom Lucille Ball once accused of physically abusing Vance. Vance, who had
been discovered by Desi Arnaz, didn't want the part of Ethel, saying that
the role was "too frumpy", and she hated being cast opposite William Frawley
(Vance was 39 and Frawley was 64 at the time they were cast and the two never
got along). TV Producer JACK FARREN (1922-1997) crafted game
shows, including the short-lived Call My Bluff and the long-running
Concentration (1958-1966). In the 1980s, he was executive producer of
several TV movies, including Mafia Princess (1985) and Fatal
Judgement (1988). Staples at bottom edges. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
