VIVIENNE SEGAL
Inscribed sepia photo, wearing formal dress
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Joss
Hoaglin/Sincerely/Vivienne Segal". Sepia, 8x10 American singer and actress
Vivienne Segal (1897-1992) appeared in her first of many Broadway musicals in
1915, but is best remembered as Vera Simpson in Pal Joey (1940),
premiering the Rodgers and Hart classic "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered."
She reprised the role in the 1952 revival and cast recording. Segal
starred in a series of lavish film operettas, including Bride of the
Regiment, made for an ill-timed release in the early 1930s, just
as the Depression deepened. Lightly creased at corners. Fine
condition.
