The German conductor signs this album leaf in blue ink
Signature: “Volker Wangenheim” in blue ink, 4½x3½. Volker Wangenheim (1928-2014) was
a German conductor who also arranged and wrote compositions. Following his studies at
the Berlin Music Academy, Wangenheim functioned as an accompanist and music
director for the Mecklenburg State Theatre located in Schwerin, Germany. He then
founded the Berlin Mozart Orchestra in 1952, serving as its chief conductor from 1953 to
1959. He was the artistic director of the Philharmonic Choir of the city of Bonn from 1957
to 1979. Then, in 1969, he helped found the National Youth Orchestra (BJO) of the
Federal Republic of Germany. His many compositions include symphonies, folk songs, and
chamber music. Stained and foxed throughout. Toned. Adhesive remnants from a previous
mounting on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
