W.C. FIELDS
Signed 10x8 sepia photo of Fields with the cast of the 1934 film Six of a Kind
Photograph signed: "Love and Kisses/Bill Fields". Sepia, 10x8. Cast photo from the 1934 film, Six of a Kind, directed by Leo McCarey. Pictured are Charlie Ruggles (as J. Pinkham Whinney), Mary Boland (his wife, Flora), Fields as Sheriff "Honest John" Hoxley, Alison Skipworth (hotel proprietress Mrs. "Duchess" K. Rumford), George Burns (George Edwards) and Gracie Allen (Gracie De Vore). In the comedy, Ruggles and Boland advertise for a couple to accompany them on a trip. Burns and Allen (along with her Great Dane) are chosen to accompany them. Trouble ensues when Ruggles is falsely accused of stealing bank funds, and Fields teams up with Skipworth to capture the "criminal" and claim the reward. After a series of comic misadventures, the real culprit is caught. Ink smudged at "Fields". Red-nosed, gravel-voiced, bottle-hitting American comedian W.C. Fields (1880-1946), born William Claude Dukenfield, began his film career in silents. He later excelled in such films as David Copperfield (as Micawber), My Little Chickadee (with Mae West) and The Bank Dick. The vaudeville veteran, who appeared in every version of the Ziegfeld Follies from 1915 to 1921, made his last film, Sensations of 1945, in 1944. Creased at upper left and lower right blank corners. Lightly soiled at blank margins. Overall, fine condition.
