WADE BARNES
The actor hand-writes and signs this letter to the CEO of Gallery of History, Inc., describing his favorite roles in film, theater and television and mentioning jobs that have surprised him
Autograph letter signed: "Wade Barnes" in black ink. 7¼x10¼. August 10, 1984, New York City, on personal letterhead to "Dear Todd Axelrod," in part: "Of the many movies I have been in, the most interesting ones are "Cold River" in which I played a senator and was applauded for my work by the extras, "Hair" where I was a bald guest at the coming-out party for Brook Shields (the scene was used universally as the TV commercial for the picture), two Woody Allen movies: "Stardust Memories" and "The Purple Rose of Cairo" in which I have speaking parts, and "The Muppets Take Manhattan" in which I'm a diner at Sardis who is interested in Kermit-the-Frog's Broadway musical ... And as for surprises, I was surprised to be chosen as the angry man in the Hammermill Paper ad which has won awards. I'm looking forward to more parts and more surprises, warm regards". Wade Barnes (b. 1917), who was a composer, songwriter, pianist and author as well as an actor, began his career as a radio announcer. He appeared in several feature films in the 1980s, including Stardust Memories (1980), Cold River (1981), Easy Money (1983), The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) and The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985). Corners rounded slightly. Otherwise, fine condition.
