WAITE C. HOYT. TLS: "Waite C. Hoyt", 1p, 8½x11. West Palm Beach, Florida, 1970 June 20. To William Van Buskirk. In part: "I took the liberty of enclosing the two photographs [not present]. The one in the ball suit was me warming up to pitch in the 1921 World Series. You can always tell the Yanks before 1922--as following '22, their stockings have always been solid blue. In '21 the home socks were blue with white anklets, and on the road, gray anklets...." In the 1921 World Series, the New York Giants defeated the New York Yankees 5 games to 3. Waite Hoyt gave up two unearned runs in three complete games, winning the 2nd and 5th games, losing the 8th game. Hoyt was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1969. Lightly creased. Lightly soiled. Pinhole-size stains at upper left margin. Fine condition.
