Wilson/from/Sincerely/Wallace MacDonald". Sepia, 5x8 (1 surface). Canadian
actor and producer Wallace MacDonald (1891-1978) appeared in many
silent films, including Chaplin's Tillie's Punctured Romance (1914).
His starring roles included Youth's Endearing Charm (1916). During World
War I, MacDonald recruited soldiers for the Canadian Army. With the advent of
talkies, MacDonald turned to writing, scripting the 12-part serial The
Phantom Empire (1935), Gene Autry's first role. Becoming a producer, he
crafted over 100 films between 1937 and 1959, mostly B- Westerns and crime
dramas. His last film, Gunmen of Laredo, was released in 1959. Toned
and lightly creased. Surface creases seen head on around edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
