WALLY AMOS. Inscribed signature: "Aloha Sherry,/'Cookie Love'/W
Amos/11-5-87", 5x3. After leaving the William Morris Talent Agency to move
to Hollywood and represent his own clients, Wally Amos began leaving his
homemade chocolate chip cookies as calling cards and thank you gifts. Demand
for his cookies was so great, that Hollywood stars and Motown artists loaned
him money to start the Famous Amos Cookie Company on Sunset Boulevard in
1975. By 1985, revenues from sales of his cookies reached more than $10
million annually, but in 1989 reversals in finances resulted in Amos
relinquishing ownership and the rights to his name. In 1999, after the
Keebler Cookie Company bought Famous Amos, he signed on as the firm's Director
of Cookie Fun, once again promoting the cookies that bear his name. Creased
in corners. Ink and pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through).
