WALLY VERNON
Rare! Signature of the comic actor and dancer
Signature: "Wally Vernon", 5½x3¼ blue album leaf. Ink note
(unknown hand): March 17, 1939. Comic actor and eccentric dancer Wally
Vernon (1905-1970) was featured to good effect in dance routines in the film
Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938). He teamed with Eddie Quillan for a
series of comedy shorts for Columbia (1938-1946) that emphasized pratfalls
and other physical hijinks. He was Red Barry's sidekick in several B-
Westerns. Critic Guy Bellinger argues convincingly that Vernon's dance
skills and comic talents were underutilized by Hollywood. On television, he was
featured regularly on the Damon Runyan Theater (1955-1956), and made
guest appearances through 1965. Toned at edges. Left edge frayed from binding.
Bottom edge folded. Otherwise, fine condition.
