WALT MOREY and LOUIS LOMAX. Autograph Note signed: "Walt Morey", 1p, 6x5. Also signed on verso: "12/7/67 Louis E. Lomax". Morey ANS affixed to 6¾x9¼album, on which Lomax has signed directly. B/w newspaper photo of each signer, and newspaper clipping about Morey, affixed below signatures. WALT MOREY (1907-1992) wrote books for young people, mostly set in the Pacific Northwest and focused on animals. His Gentle Ben (1965) inspired a movie and TV series. LOUIS E. LOMAX (1922-1970), not Louis M. as the captioned photo incorrectly states, was a prominent African-American journalist and the authorof several books, mostly on issues of civil rights. He interviewed Malcolm X in 1959 for a film documentary on the Nation of Islam. Lomax hosted a local TV show in Los Angeles. Some conspiracy theorists claim that his death in an auto accident was really a murder to forestall his investigation of the assassination of Martin Luther King. Mounting adhesive shows through faintly at corners of Morey ANS. One edge slightly frayed where page was removed from a book. Overall, fine condition.
