The actor signs his name in blue ink
Signature: "Walter Abel", in blue ink, 3½x1¾. Walter Abel (1898-1987) was an American actor with over 80 TV shows and films and over 40 Broadway appearances to his credit between 1918 and 1985. Abel made his name playing well-groomed but barely restrained professional men, mostly in top supporting roles, and his dignity lent well to his appearances in Eugene O'Neill's plays. Among his notable screen appearances were as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers (1935); the newspaper editor in Arise My Love (1940); the hapless agent of Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire in Holiday Inn (1942); and a philanthropist who falls off a skyscraper to his death, in Mirage (1966). Irregularly cut. Notch missing on top left corner. Lightly toned. Ink lightly haloed from moisture damage. Otherwise, fine condition.
