WALTER BRENNAN. Partly Printed Contract signed: "Walter
Brennan" as Player, 3p, 8½x11, front and verso. No place, 1971
December 6. Headed: "Actors Television Motion Picture Contract for Daily,
Three-Day or Weekly Employment". Brennan is hired to play Cody Guilford in
the ABC production, Two for the Money, at a salary of $15,000. His
employment was to begin on December 14, 1971. Also signed by a
representative of American Broadcasting Company and initialed in unknown
hand. Two for the Money, a made-for-TV murder mystery that also
starred Robert Hooks and Stephen Brooks, aired in 1972. That year, Brennan also
appeared in another TV movie, Home for the Holidays, and he guest starred
in two episodes of the TV series, Alias Smith and Jones. In 1936,
Walter Brennan (1894-1974) won the first of his three Best Supporting Actor
Academy Awards for his role as Swan Bostrom in Come and Get It, set
in the Wisconsin woodlands. In 1938, he won the Oscar for his role as
septuagenarian horse breeder Peter Goodwin in Kentucky, and Brennan
won again in 1940 for The Westerner, playing legendary Judge Roy
Bean. From 1957-1963, he was Grandpa Amos McCoy in TV's The Real
McCoys. Brennan also portrayed a former cavalry scout raising his
grandson in The Guns of Will Sonnett on ABC from 1967-1969. Lightly
creased with folds, not at signatures. Staple holes at upper left blank corners,
two file holes at upper blank margin. Pencil check mark at upper right corner
and question mark at lower left corner of first page, several lines of print
crossed out on verso of first page. Overall, fine condition.
