WALT DISNEY
Inscribed 10x13 photo, seated with a (real) dog, framed in the Gallery of History style to 18x29
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Wilma O'Herrilees/My Best/Walt Disney". B/w, 10¼x13. Innovative animator, producer and studio executive Walt Disney (1901-1966) introduced Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Disneyland, family films and family television entertainment. Making his name synonymous with family fun, his dream was to entertain the whole family, not just children. Disney developed the first animated film with sound with Mickey's Steamboat Willie (1928). Mickey's success led to the creation of Donald and Goofy. By the 1940s, Disney expanded his films to feature length using color (1932), sound and several new animation innovations. Early feature-length classics from Disney Studios include Pinnochio (1940), Dumbo (1941) and Cinderella (1950). During the 1950s, live adventure films were added to the repertoire, and Disney's greatest dream, his theme park, Disneyland, opened in California in 1955. Near the end of his career, Disney produced Mary Poppins (1964), which consisted of live action and animation, a technique his studio first developed in the 1940s. Mary Poppins garnered 13 Academy Award nominations and won five Oscars. Adequate contrast. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 18½x29.
