birthday!
Typed Letter signed: "Walter", 1p, 6x9. St. David's
Pennsylvania, 1997 June 16. On personal letterhead to actress and comedienne
Phyllis Diller. In full: "I understand you will be 80 years of age on
July 17, 1997 and, in anticipation of this distinguished anniversary in your
life, the respect that you enjoy continues to mount because you are an
outstanding and unique woman - nobody can deny this. It so happens that my wife
and I will be in London July 17th, but I will toast you in a fitting manner.
Ever warmly". Walter Annenberg (1908-2002), media mogul,
philanthropist and one-time U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain (1968-1974),

Southern Cal and bequeathed $150 million to the Corporation for Public

to New York's Metropolitan Museum. Annenberg was awarded the Medal of Freedom
by his close personal friend, Ronald Reagan. Fine condition.
