Contract Signed: "Walter Winchell", 2p. 8½x11 front and verso. Los Angeles, California, 1957 October 1. Standard AFTRA contract between Winchell and Yorkshire Productions, Inc. for his appearance on Kraft Music Hall on November 15, 1957, for the amount of $3000. Plus round-trip first-class air fare Los Angeles-New York and $50.00 a day expenses. The "father of the newspaper gossip column", which he pioneered in the 1920s, Walter Winchell (1897-1972) created such phrases as "scram", "pushover" and "belly laughs". He also was a familiar voice on radio from 1929 through the mid-1950s, punctuating his staccato delivery with the sound of teletype keys. Winchell later narrated the television series, The Untouchables (1959-1963). Staple in place at upper left corner, additional staple holes present. Two filing holes at top edge. Left corner missing. Lightly creased. Edges lightly toned. Bottom edge nicked 1½ from right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
