13. Standard AFTRA contract between Winchell and Roncom Productions, Inc.
for his appearance on The Perry Como Show on October 6, 1956, for the
amount of $7500.00. The "father of the newspaper gossip column", which he
pioneered in the 1920s, Walter Winchell (1897-1972) created such phrases
as "scram", "pushover" and "belly laughs". He also was a familiar voice on
radio from 1929 through the mid-1950s, punctuating his staccato delivery
with the sound of teletype keys. Winchell later narrated the television
series, The Untouchables (1959-1963). Staple in place at upper left
corner, additional staple holes present. Horizontal fold creases. Random carbon
smears. Otherwise, fine condition.
