Typed Note signed: "Walter". 1p. 8½x5½, New York, New York,
1965 March 30, on New York Journal American letterhead. In full: "Dear
Ken: Thanks very much for the photograph which I enjoyed seeing. Good luck on
May 9th. Regards," The "father of the newspaper gossip column", which
he pioneered in the 1920s, Walter Winchell (1897-1972) created such
phrases as "scram", "pushover" and "belly laughs". He also was a familiar
voice on radio from 1929 through the mid-1950s, punctuating his staccato
delivery with the sound of teletype keys. Winchell later narrated the
television series, The Untouchables (1959-1963). One horizontal
fold-affecting signature. Lightly toned at left edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
