Autograph Sentiment signed: "With all good wishes/Walter Lippmann/Nov. 27, 1945", 5x3 card affixed with two newspaper photos of Lippmann on an 8½x11 page (4 surfaces). Author, journalist and editor WALTER LIPPMANN (1889-1974) edited the "Harvard Monthly", co-founded and edited the political weekly "New Republic" (1914-1920), edited the "New York World" (1929-1931) and wrote the nationally syndicated column, "Today and Tomorrow" for the "New York Herald Tribune" for 30 years, beginning in 1931. Lippmann, the author of a number of controversial books, helped to draft Wilson's 14 Points Peace Program, was a U.S. delegate to the Paris Peace Conference (1919) and helped draw up the covenant for the League of Nations. Beginning with Public Opinion (1922), he expressed doubts that the general public would ever stay informed enough to influence foreign policy in a positive way.. Lippmann endorsed six Republican and seven Democratic candidates for President. Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II, went on to become President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate.
