Contract signed: "Walter Matthau", 2p, front and verso with 3p rider, 8½x12. Beverly Hills, California, 1987 May 13. Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract between Walter Matthau and George Schlatter Productions for his appearance on The American Comedy Awards, for which he will be compensated initially $492.00 for the first and second broadcast, $328.00 for the third, fourth, and fifth, $65.60 for the sixth and $32.80 for all the other after that. Walter Matthau (1920-2000) won the 1966 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as lawyer "Whiplash" Willie Gingrich in The Fortune Cookie. He was also nominated for Best Actor Oscars for Kotch and The Sunshine Boys. He co-starred with Jack Lemmon in 11 films, including The Fortune Cookie, two Odd Couple movies, Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men. On screen since 1950, Matthau also appeared in such well-remembered films as Plaza Suite (1971) and The Bad News Bears (1976).Lightly creased. Staple at upper left. Overall, fine condition.
