Typed letter signed: "Walter O' Keefe", "Roberta O' Keefe" in
black ink, "Rose Jermain", "George Jermain", "Still my favorite Cousin, Paul
Jackels" and two other unidentified signatures in blue ink, 7¼x10½. One
Page. Dated on May 31. American songwriter and entertainer Walter O'Keefe
(1900-1983) was born in Hartford, Connecticut. A vaudeville performer early
in his career, he moved to New York City and became a syndicated radio
humorist, eventually becoming the host of the NBC program Double or
Nothing in 1952. A songwriter, he wrote the lyrics for two Broadway
shows, Just a Minute (1928) and George White's Scandals
(1935-1936), and composed music for several Hollywood films including
Sweet Kitty Bellairs (1930) and Under Fiesta Stars (1941).
O'Keefe has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work on the
radio. Roberta O'Keefe (b. 1927) began as a singer and was given a
scholarship to study for opera by a Boston music conservatory but later she
stopped taking classes there and started working in musical comedy. Her first
important production was the movie "Band Wagon" and later she turned to the
stage in the "Of Thee I Sing". Between the two jobs Roberta got married to
Walter O'Keefe and soon afterwards she abandoned her career and became a house
