In full: "I appreciated receiving your kind letter of the 19th
December and am pleased to enclose a small autographed photograph and some
biographical notes which you requested for your collection. [Items not
included.] Of the former Lieutenant-Governors of British Columbia, the
Honourable George Peakrkes, the Honourable Clarence Wallace and the Honourable
John Nicholson are living. The Honourable Frank Ross, whom you also mentioned,
died on December 11th, 1971. Thank you for all your good wishes. I hope y ou
have a Happy New Year. Yours sincerely". Walter S. Owen (1904-1981), who had
been the first Premier of what became the British Columbia Youth Parliament,
later served as Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia (1973-1978). He
was made an officer of the Order of Canada in 1978. His son Phillip Owen served
two terms as Mayor of Vancouver (1993-2003). Faint type transfer below
