Autograph Letter Signed: “Walter Ludwig” in green ink. 8¼x5¾. Letter features
letterhead that notes Ludwig's status as a professor that taught in Berlin,
Germany. Letter untranslated from German. Walther Ludwig (1902-1981)
was a German-born opera singer who made his debut in 1928. He performed
throughout Europe over the course of his career, but predominantly stayed in
Germany or further east.Opera houses such as La Scala, the Paris Opera, the
Vienna State Opera, and the Hamburg State Opera welcomed his tenor vocals,
but he became world-renowned as a member of the Stadtische Oper Berlin. Most
notable for his Mozart roles, he went on to teach opera in Berlin from
