Comprises: (1) Signature: "Wayne Gretzky/99", 5x3 index card. Creased lower edge. Lightly soiled upper right touching his number. (2) Original Ticket Stub, 2¼x5¾. "Rangers vs Pittsburgh/Sunday, Apr. 18 1999", Madison Square Garden. Not signed. Folds, light surface wear. On April 18, 1999, Wayne Gretzky played his last hockey game. In a fitting end to an incredible career, he notched an assist (his 1,963 career assist). The Rangers lost the game 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The "Great One" retired as the NHL's all-time leading scorer and holder of 61 personal records. After his final game, the NHL decreed that his number 99 not be worn again by any team. The Hockey Hall of Fame relaxed its usual waiting period and admitted him immediately.Two items.
