WELLINGTON MARA
New York Giants soft football cap, signed on the bill "Well Mara"
Hat Signed: "Well Mara". Blue soft cap with white Giants letters, signed on the bill with
white felt tip. When Tim Mara founded the New York Giants football team in 1925, his son
Wellington Mara was the ball boy. After graduating from Fordham, Wellington became the
team's Treasurer in 1937. He was President of the club from 1959 until his death. Under
Mara's stewardship, the Giants won 6 NFL titles, including Super Bowls XXI and XXV.
Foregoing the advantage of the League's most lucrative market, Mara promoted a system of
revenue sharing which contributed greatly to the NFL's success. He was popular with team
players and supportive when they faced adversity. Mara entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame
in 1997. Fine condition.
