WHIT CUNLIFFE The English music hall singer and comedian signed this cardstock in black ink Autograph Sentiment Signed: “Yours faithfully / Whit Cunliffe” in black ink on a 3½x1½ piece of cardstock. Whit Cunliffe (1876-1966) was a British comedian famous for his original songs that he performed on stage in music halls throughout the country. Music hall was similar to vaudeville in the United States: a variety of different performances (theatrical, comical, musical) on stage while spectators sat and ate their dinner or had a drink. He is also a one-time actor, appearing in the 1909 short I'm Afraid to Go Home in the Dark. Half-inch wide black stain vertically across signature (still legible). Black marks on left side. Verso tear marks.
